The study found increases in breast cancer-related gene

Canada's McGill University researchers recently discovered a can promote breast cancer tumor cell growth gene. This discovery will create conditions for the treatment of breast cancer.

According to participate in the study at McGill University oncologist Dr. Weilianmumule, called the BETAL1 - INTEGRIN genes in the embryo formation plays a very important role. But for some women, if this gene activities too active, it will trigger breast. In experiments, researchers in over 10 suffering from breast cancer have only a mouse knockout body of the gene, found that mice tumor cell growth to be curbed, and the breast mice can still maintain their normal function.

Obese breast cancer patients need chemotherapy dose reduction

The obesity to breast cancer chemotherapy patients, clinicians account of the distribution and drug toxicity, it is usually to reduce the dosage of chemotherapy drugs, but in fact, support this approach to the data is limited. Italian researchers recently found that obese patients with breast cancer to reduce the first dose chemotherapy regimen is not appropriate. The researchers collected several items of body mass index, chemotherapy dose, estrogen receptor expression and postmenopausal breast cancer patients prognosis of the randomized clinical research data. The results showed that a very high percentage of obese patients in the first chemotherapy regimen used in the dose of conventional doses of 85% or less. But their prognosis with those receiving conventional-dose chemotherapy compared to patients there was no significant difference. The latter disease-free survival and overall survival was even slightly higher than the 15.83 persons. Obese patients with conventional-dose chemotherapy has not been as expected those that have more side effects. The researchers do not recommend reducing obesity in patients with breast cancer chemotherapy dose.
